Bias Magic Experience An Intense Seminar in beautiful Carmel, CA
Who: Julianne Bramson and Susan Lenahan - Co-Owners of Fashion in Harmony
What: 4 day sewing seminar to learn techniques for creating delightful bias cut garments that fit and flatter women of all sizes. Forget traditional patterns, instead we use well tested methods and math formulas, templates, and a few pattern pieces that we will share with the students. All garments use the techniques made famous by Madeleine Vionnet of cutting and sewing garments on the straight of grain, while placing them on the true bias on the wearer. This method looks complicated, like a beautiful puzzle, but once mastered is amazingly simple to adapt to endless designs. Famous fashion designers have used it for years to add complicated looking but easy to fit garments to their line. This timeless style shows up every year on the runways!
Rectangles and squares become:
- Skirts, blouses, jackets, scarves, dresses, and even a gorgeous split skirt, perfect for daytime or evening wear
- Elegant and fitted or loose and casual, your choice
- Cowl and flair effects for interest and volume!
- Using traditional and bias cut sleeves in any of the garments
- Many neckline treatments to vary the look, v-neck, scoop, cowl, etc.
- Julianne will show you how she created her award winning dress!
- These methods are easily adaptable to zero waste designs
We will also share with you how to finish edges on bias garments, how to size bias garments for the most flattering fit, and which fabrics work best for bias cut garments. Where: Scenic Carmel, CA
